warderick wells, bahamas

I have to rewind - somehow I totally forgot to post about one of our most favorite places in the Bahamas. We stopped at Warderick Wells for only a day on our way to Nassau.

Their favorite part were the kayaks that were available to use whenever they wanted.

The popular hike on Warderick Wells is the hike to Boo Boo Hill. The legend is the hill is haunted by souls of a ship that went missing in the reef during a stormy night. On moonlit nights people claim to hear them singing in the howling wind.

The tradition is to leave an offering to King Neptune and the sea gods at the top of hill to bring good sailing and safe passage.

Braden and I left a sign in 2012. We looked for it, but we're pretty certain it is completely buried after 13 years.

Unfortunately we came back from a day at the beach to find our boat sitting on the bottom. Fortunately it is soft sand so we were able to get it floating without any issues.

The girls thought it was cool that they could just step off the back of the boat into waist deep water. Braden and I did not find it very cool. I don't think the turtle did either.

After we left the girls said it was their favorite island and we really wanted to go back. Unfortunately we ran out of time, so we will have to save another visit for another time.
