thanksgiving week
Thanksgiving did not go at all how I thought it would. It started on Saturday night with Emma getting a high fever.
That fever would just not go away. She has always been pretty tough, but the constant fever took a lot out of her. She napped a lot.
Every night I would put cold towels on her throughout the night and every night it seemed like it was getting better.
We had planned to go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving, but ended up getting take out and eating on the boat instead. It was delicious and even came with two bottles of wine and an apple pie.
We decided it was time for a change of scenery, so we moved to St. John. We all love St. John.
Finally after almost a week of a constant fever we did a telehealth appointment and Emma got prescribed antibiotics for a respiratory infection. It was amazing. Her fever was gone after just one dose. By the next morning she was feeling so much better.
I told her she needed to take it easy, but that was pretty much impossible once she was feeling better. Also impossible... keeping her out of the sun. She was not happy about the less than fashionable hat I made her wear.
The day after Thanksgiving was the day Olivia had been waiting all week for. Before we left St. Thomas we went to Kmart.
Yes, Kmart. It still exists in the US Virgin Islands. Fun fact for Austin - the US Virgin Islands has 3 out of the 300 Kmart stores in the world.
While we were there Olivia talked me into a 4 ft Christmas tree.
She was dying to put up the tree. But it feels wrong to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, so I told her she had to wait. She's so proud of this little tree.
