culebrita
After three months in the US Virgin Islands it was time to move on. Goodbye USVI...
Hello Puerto Rico...
On the way in two dolphins came to greet us. They came and went very quickly, but it was still exciting to see them.
Our first stop was Culebrita which is part of the Spanish Virgin Islands. We heard this beach is the party place on the weekends... and it is true. Surprisingly though it wasn't as wild and crazy as I thought it would be. There were lots of boats and lots of people, but not as much partying as I was expecting.
After we got settled we hiked to check out the old lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1886 and closed in 1975. It has been through several hurricanes that destroyed a lot of it, but still left plenty for exploring.
After the hike it was time to cool off. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out in the water.
The next morning we went on a very rocky hike to the other side of the island in search of the jacuzzi/baths/bubbly pool where waves from the ocean crash in between the rocks to make a tidal pool.
We went to a similar place in the BVI, but this was way better. No big waves crashing in which made it perfect for swimming, cooling off and looking at all the little fish and crabs.
